NBC reject Super Bowl Ad

NBC rejects Super Bowl ad because it contains pro-life message:

"30-second ad features ultrasound pictures from a baby in its mother’s wombJanuary 30, 2009NBC television has rejected a pro-life advertisement which Catholicvote.org bought for a slot in the Super Bowl because the ad contains a pro-life message. The 30-second ad features ultrasound pictures from a baby in its mother’s womb. There is nothing either graphic or political and the word abortion is not even used. In fact, no words are spoken, only graphics that appear on-screen. Yet, the message is extremely powerful. You can view the ad here.Take Action! E-mail your comments to NBC. As of the time of this alert, NBC had not sold out all their ad slots, so there is still time for them to reconsider. In addition to sending an e-mail, please call NBC Entertainment at 818-840-4444. Tell the operator that you want to urge NBC to reconsider airing the Super Bowl ad produced by Catholicvote.org."

Sorry but if they put on sexually suggestive stuff, then they can put on this ad! They are paying with the same money - why not accept it???

Another baby abandoned in....(Jan 09)

(To view the stories I wrote about - click on the link I inserted that is pink)

This morning at 5:30am as I got up to feed my baby daughter I was reading the news when I am came across a woman in Michigan who abandoned her baby inside a Michigan Hospital...the baby was 2-4 days old. I wanted to read more about the story so I googled it. I came across another story - in January a 17 year old in Indianapolis who left her baby in a towel, in a shoe box on the steps of a porch (it was 14 degrees) with a note saying she couldn't take care of her baby and asking for help. She went to school and told a counselor what happened.... the baby survived but is in critical condition. Another woman in New York - just 25 years old, abandoned her son - wrapped in a blanket in a plastic bag outside a brooklyn apartment in freezin temperatures. He was just hours old... He is being hospitalized in critical condition. In North Dakota a couple weeks ago, a baby is left at a fire station in freezing temperatures. In Texas a couple came home to find a baby on their porch who had been left by a young woman neighbors had seen walking with a baby.

My heart breaks for these babies.... these babies are the lucky ones.... the ones that survive. These instances of baby abandonment were just this last month....

Project Cuddle has some stats that show that 57 babies are abandoned everyday in the United States (these are the reported cases). I believe it. Project Cuddle has a desire to end baby abandonment. They go into schools, they advertise in pregnancy centers, abortion clinics, hospitals, where ever possible to let women know that they have options. Everything can be handled in secret. Alot of the women they help are hiding pregnancies. They will keep their "secret" - they will help women find a home for their baby.

It takes an effort to get things done. Maybe you would like to volunteer to help out Project Cuddle - or donate what little you can. We have been blessed personally by them - that is how our daughter was brought to us. Her first mom was hiding the pregnancy, and Project Cuddle was there to help.

As I hold my daughters, and love them, and see them smile.... I can't imagine leaving them alone... alone in the cold...alone anywhere.....

How heart breaking it must be for these women to leave their children out of fear, or anxiety, or selflessness, or selfishness. To be in labor, to deliver your child... I cannot fathom the strength and the loneliness. As sad as it is that they would leave their baby somewhere - at least they allowed their baby to live... as opposed to what many other women do. I just want to scream - I will take baby - I will love your baby! So many other families would as well....

We need to help get the word out that THERE ARE OPTIONS. You don't have to resort to this.

As I face this sadness - this despair I think of my girls...
I love my girls :)
This isn't upside down :)
I took it facing over them - I thought it was cute haha

Octuplets....

So I am sure you all have heard about the woman who recently delievered 8 babies all within 5 minutes.... amazing isn't it? Yeah, I think that would take a toll on a woman. I also just read today that she already had 6 children! 14 little kiddos in a family, she is just four away from the Duggars family! Now some people may find this woman crazy. She said she was not planning on eight more little ones when she got pregnant (she had embryos implanted)...

"Suleman said her daughter had embryos implanted last year, and after
finding out she was pregnant with multiple babies was given the option by
doctors of selectively reducing the number of embryos. The woman
declined. "What do you suggest she should have done? She refused to
have them killed,"
Suleman told the Times. "That is a very
painful thing
." "
And while eight babies at once would be a little overwhelming for me (as I am sure it is for her) - can you fault the woman for valuing the lives of each and every one of those babies that God has put into her life? Any story that shows me that people value life over convienence is one that I enjoy hearing about. I am happy for the woman and I loved hearing about people calling into the hospital willing to donate baby items for this mother and her babies. Thankfully we live in a country that so far hasn't put a limit on the number of children one family can have.

The User...

There is one in most families, but not in every one. There is one in every work place, in every church, on every team. Its hard to miss them....at least I think so.

This isn't a feel good posting... but here I am frustrated out of my mind... so I type. My husband isn't here to vent to and even if he was here - Why would I want him to be frustrated and ruin our time together?? Believe me, this topic is exhausted between us and I am just embarassed that I continue to be surprised by this "user". You all have the choice as to whether or not you will read - so I don't feel quite as bad putting you through it.

Maybe you have a "user" in mind and you can relate. Maybe you don't get to vent about them to anyone because no one else views the "user" the same way you do.

Don't you hate the way people and family enable them??? UGH!

I think the frustation I feel is because I care too much. I care too much about these people in my life and I want them to be who I know they can be. I love them. That is where the hurt comes in. No one likes to be used. . . especially by someone they love. I know they are wrong. I know they treat me like crap.... but I love them.... and thats why they suck. I wish I could care less, but I don't.

I understand that I can't control them. I can't force them to care. They say they do care - but actions speak louder than words, don't they?

Of course boundaries need to be made. If I tell them that they don't deserve to be treated like crap by others, then why should I allow them to treat me like crap? I shouldn't.

Easier said than done....

Despite the pain they inflict on me and on others, I love the "user". But I think I need to mourn the relationship we once had and view this one in a realistic way...

I am angry, frustrated and I just need to admit to God my utter helplessness.

Some pictures over the last few weeks of my girls!

Kinsey playing in the snow all bundled up!

There was a layer of ice over the snow
so she would just glide across it as he pushed her

Cali is such a happy baby, even when she is sick :)
Cali looking super cute with this big eyes :)
While Cali was in the hospital the nurses brought her a bear from
"Kate's Kart" an organization started by a family who lost their daughter last year. We put it in the oxygen tent with her - she loved it :)
This was the night we brought Cali home from the hospital-
Kinsey was sooooo excited to see her again!

I've been thinking about them lately....

The last few days they have been on my mind more than usual. It's been a couple months since I have heard from them so it just makes me wonder how they are doing and if they are making it alright.

We have an open relationship with Boo Boo's first family - her first grandma "R" who is a mere 33 years old herself, her first mom "C" who is about to turn 16 years old in Feb, and her first aunt "A" (12 years old) who doesn't even know about boo boo's existence. The fact that "A" doesn't know that boo boo exists is interesting in and of itself. She is the same age as my sister, my sister who LOVES being an aunt to boo boo. I wonder how she will respond when she finds out someday. You know, it's funny... I didn't realize C would be 16 until I just wrote that out. Time sure flies doesn't it? She had just turned 14 when Boo Boo made her way into the world.

I don't talk about boo boo's first family much when I talk about adoption - not because I don't want to - but because I don't get asked about them much. Maybe people assume that I don't want to talk about them. Maybe they think it hurts me to think about it. It doesn't... but I can see why it would be awkward to ask me about. Maybe its because not many people can understand. I guess I just like people knowing how great they are. There is such a negative attitude towards "first families" I think... and I never want anyone to view them that way....

It was the beginning of October since the last letter from them... but I know they are busy. "R" is a single mom herself trying to raise two girls in this crazy world. Not an easy task. I am excited for her though - she and "C" are taking classes at local colleges! Its exciting, seeing them go for their dreams. Without much family support R is doing all she can for her girls. When I see single moms trying to make it, I think of her and how difficult it can be.

Its funny, when I look at boo boo I don't see someone else's daughter - I see mine. But when I look for C in her I can find her. C loves animals - always has.... so does my boo boo. I like this think its from both of us :) That was a plus for her when she picked us to be boo boo's parents. You know when we first met C and she was asking about where we lived etc. one of the things she asked was what pets we have :) Then she asked if it snows.... when we said "Yes" she responded with "Lucky". Makes me smile even thinking about it. She responded "Lucky" when we talked about Kyle working on a buffalo farm, Kyle's parents living on a farm, and all the siblings in my family. I think those were C's favorite things about us. C's mom R's favorite things about us was that we knew Jesus. She wanted her very first grand baby to know Jesus, grow up in church and have a family that dedicated her to God.

I feel like they are our family in a weird sort of way... I think about them, care about them... I can't wait to send them pictures of different things boo boo is doing that I know they would enjoy. I have requested lots of family pictures of theirs and I am putting all their letters in a binder for boo boo when she gets older. I hope that will give her a sense of the love they have for her.

I think that is one of the reasons that the relationship between My Love and boo boo is so special to me. Boo boo's first mom doesn't have a dad that is around. That means that boo boo is the third generation without a father that is present. But her daddy - my love - has broken that cycle. Its beautiful to see that relationship. It breaks my heart that C doesn't have that. That she doesn't know what it could be like to have such a great dad.

I hate it when people say things like "Oh boo boo is so much better off now" or "Its sad that they didn't love her!". I want to shout at them - "Don't you know - thats why they did what they did!" I want to tell them that they adore my beautiful little boo boo.... But that this is what was best for her. I just feel so blessed that God is using us to raise her. Because she is absolutely amazing and I can't imagine life without her. :)

Thanks for letting me talk about them.... it makes it easier. I love to talk about them.

Cali visited the hospital :(

Well we got home from the hospital today, after three nights there, and Cali is doing better :) I was pretty freaked out the first day and a half but after talking with the Doctors they made me feel alot better about everything. Its just so scary not knowing how things work ... especially when I have always heard such terrible things about RSV.

She will need breathing treatments for a while plus a steroid but her oxygen levels were up enough where she could go home. Babies (and children...well anyone for that matter) look so pitiful with the oxygen tubes in their nose :( She had an oxygen tent as well, which was better for when she slept.

We felt so blessed to have such great staff at the hospital who were just so kind. I felt so thankful to God that we live in a country where we have the resources to spot these kinds of things early and treat them.

Thank you for your prayers as you took Cali before Jesus. Cali is still fighting it so of course we would love for you to say a prayer for her :)

Thanks again!

on a side note, one of the nurses I met (almost 30 years old) lost her baby in November in her 6th month of pregnancy and is still trying to cope with her loss. The doctors have no idea why she lost her son and she has fear of getting pregnant again with the same result. She had two perfect pregnancies before with two perfectly healthy babies - so this of course was very unexpected. They would like a big family but she fears the same result. Anyway, please say a prayer for her as she struggles with her loss and faces that pain everyday.

My heart just broke for this girl as she shared her hurt.

Just so its clear....

Just so its clear, I have no intention of trying to guilt people into adopting. I know that if guilt is the reason people adopt then there is a VERY high chance of the adoption being disrupted - which is NOT what I would ever want for a child who has already endured such loss.

It is so hard because there is a need and no one seems to care because its not their "problem" - yes, I have heard people say that its not their problem. Or they see the need and think "how sad" but thats as far as it goes... I am guilty of this myself when I have seen a need...so I don't want it to come across that I was saying "I am better than you because I adopted". There are other ways to make a difference than just adopting.

My frustration comes from knowing how lost these children are without the guidance of a family. I also see the need in children who have families, but are pretty much ignored by their parents and left to raise themselves.

I look in these children's faces and I am heart broken that they don't have someone to love them unconditionally ...

I write to myself as much as I write to others...

Sometimes I think that I don't sacrifice enough to do what I can to make that difference.

Everyone has a gift, a passion that is God given that they can use to make a difference and further His kingdom.

I just want people to care - about the fatherless child, the single mother, the elderly (or not so elderly) widow. I just want people to see them, instead of seeing through them. I just want them to realize that everyone can do something to make a difference.
