New Siblings?

I got a call from a social worker in Florida yesterday asking if we would be interested in little boy who is 10 years old. We may be interested but right now we are waiting to find out if we can move forward with our boy J first and see if we can be a successful match with him. Any way this boy she called me about is Cody and he is ten. She thinks he would be a good fit for our family. He has two siblings but they may have to split them up... unless our hearts were big enough for all three (her words, not mine lol) ...called my mom and I told her that I just found my three siblings :) My parents have decided to start the process to do foster care - possibly adoption. I know its not likely they could adopt them, as the process takes a while... but maybe if not these siblings.. maybe some others.

Maybe these kids would fit into your family?
A little about Nathan (13) , Jenna (12), Cody (10)

Favorite foods: Like most other young boys, Cody likes chicken fingers and fries and Nathan likes pizza! Jenna, however, sticks to healthier options and says that her favorite food is salad.

Favorite animals: Cody’s favorite animal is a giraffe, Jenna loves bunnies and Nathan thinks white tigers are really cool.

At school: These siblings are across the board: Cody likes reading class, Jenna likes writing and Nathan’s favorite is math.

A few things about Cody: Loveable Cody likes watching Nickelodeon, playing “Duck,Duck,Goose” and hopes to be a science teacher someday.

A few things about Jenna: Going to the park is one of her favorite ways of passing the time and she’d like to be a cashier someday. Jenna also likes dancing and playing the recorder.

A few things about Nathan: He likes fishing and watching the Cartoon Network and wants to be a rapper when he grows up. He would love to learn how to snowboard.

Why people love this trio: They’re caring and helpful, and love to have a good time.

C's tummy

Kinsey loves looking through her baby book. I also made a photo book for her of her story... pictures of her in the hospital ... pictures of her with C after being discharged from the hospital... all with little phrases at the bottom to tell her how special she is and how our she became our daughter. I mention how her first mom wanted a mommy and daddy for her... how they loved her but couldn't take care of her the way they wanted. How she was loved. How they loved holding her and thought she was so beautiful.

When C held her for the first time she wouldn't stop looking at her. She was so gentle and motherly - even at 14. I am sure she was in awe. In awe of the fact that she created this beautiful girl.

I remember trying to capture every look with my camera. Trying to capture the love in the way she held her.

Kinsey knows their (first mom and first grandma) names and often reads out loud her photo book. I love it. I love hearing her say things like "R & C loved me so much. I was in the hospital" its beautiful. Today she brought me C's ultra sound pictures and said "C's tummy!" - yep baby girl... that YOU in C's tummy. "YAY! Thats me in C's tummy!!" She doesn't get IT now. But she knows. While she was reading the book the other day Kyle said something about "I wonder if she will be sad when she finally understands what it means". I don't know if she will. Maybe. I just hope she lets me hold her while she cries if those tears are ever over that.

Little Man

Okay - I am REALLY excited to be meeting with our social worker in... 2 days! I keep thinking about him and how he will fit into our family. When we eat, go to the store, get ready for bed, color pictures... just the day to day fun little things... what will it be like for him to be a part of it. He will be in school so that will be a big change... getting up early and getting him ready for his big day... or picking him up from school and helping him get his school work complete. It will be different for sure. But so worth it. He will bring so much joy to the family who is lucky enough to be chosen. I know it will be an adjustment... but a good one. I am excited and terrified all at the same time :) Kinda like labor... excited and terrified. HAHAHA. . . oh brother. But that beautiful child is always worth it.

Information & Decisions

Things have been pretty crazy the last week.... as least as far as adoption is concerned. I have been talking with social worker about a boy that I had previously mentioned. There is just alot of info to take in as we try to learn all we can about this little guy. We have an appointment with our social worker this Thursday to go over all of his information (child summary, evaluations, educational info, medical, etc). We are both excited and incredibly nervous. Its what we have always wanted... however, we know it will be a huge adjustment. Its a long process and we are still in the preliminary part. We would appreciate your prayers though... Just knowing where God wants us to be.

Before talking with his social worker we had submitted our packet to become a rescue family with Project Cuddle - so which ever way God sends us our child is fine with us. :) I feel so much more peace this time around. I haven't had the same stress or feeling of urgency. We are also being pro-active this time around as far as preperation. If things fall through with the little boy and we decide to stick solely with Project Cuddle then we will have a plan ... not every detail worked out..but some idea of how we hope to do things.

Financing is a huge issue but we feel confident that because God is calling us to grow our family through adoption that he will provide the resources needed.

We are excited for where he is taking us... where ever that may be :)
